Africa’s biggest salt refinery, Electrochem to start operations in August 2024

Dr. Daniel McKorley, Chairman of McDan Group, has announced that Electrochem Ghana Limited will start processing refined salt in commercial quantities by August.

The refinery, located in Ada, Greater Accra, is Africa's largest and a subsidiary of McDan Group.

Electrochem aims to produce natural salt primarily for export, engaging both domestic and international off-takers.

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the AGI emphasized the importance of supporting large Ghanaian-owned businesses like Electrochem.

With a 41,000-acre concession, Electrochem Ghana has the capacity to produce 1 million metric tons of salt annually for local and international markets.
