Apple is facing a £3bn legal claim, initiated by consumer group Which? Accusing the company of locking 40 million British customers into its iCloud service and overcharging them.
Which? Claims Apple’s practices, including limiting third-party storage options and charging high prices for iCloud storage, have been anti-competitive and harmful to consumers.
Apple denies these accusations, asserting that iCloud is optional and that it provides easy data transfer and security.
The case, which could result in a £70 payout per customer, is part of a growing trend of legal actions against Big Tech, including other companies like Facebook, Google, and Steam.
Legal experts anticipate more such claims in the future, particularly as litigation funding becomes more accessible.
