Apple to urge judge to end US smartphone monopoly case

Apple (AAPL.O) will ask a U.S. federal judge on Wednesday to dismiss the U.S. Department of Justice's antitrust case, which accuses the company of unlawfully dominating the smartphone market.

The DOJ argues that Apple restricts interoperability between the iPhone and third-party apps and devices, stifling competition.

Apple, however, contends that its technology limitations are justified and that sharing its technology would hinder innovation.
