Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison has urged Ghana’s financial system to prepare for emerging global risks, including technological disruptions, climate vulnerabilities, and economic shocks.

Speaking at the 28th Annual National Banking and Ethics Conference in Accra on November 21, 2024, Dr. Addison stressed the need for proactive regulation, innovative strategies, and ethical banking practices to build resilience.

Highlighting recent regulatory reforms, the Bank has introduced directives on sustainable banking, climate-related financial risks, and cyber security to enhance transparency and market discipline.

However, Dr. Addison emphasized that regulation alone cannot address these challenges, calling for collective action from regulators, institutions, and stakeholders.

He also urged the sector to prioritize integrity, adaptability, and workforce preparedness to navigate rapid changes. The Governor’s remarks underscore the importance of aligning Ghana’s financial systems with global sustainability and ethical standards to ensure stability and long-term growth.
