The Minerals Commission has appointed a six-member caretaker team to assist in managing the FGR Bogoso and Prestea mines after the company’s mining leases were terminated.
This follows government findings of multiple operational breaches. Despite warnings from the Minerals Commission, the company failed to comply, leading to the lease termination.
Blue Gold Bogoso Prestea Limited, claiming to be the new operator, plans to contest the decision.
The caretaker team, alongside military personnel, will oversee day-to-day operations and secure the site until a new investor is found.
