The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is owed over GH¢1 billion in unpaid taxes by ten state institutions, including Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
This issue was highlighted during a Public Accounts Committee session on July 29.
While some entities have shown willingness to settle their debts, others, like the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), are deemed less viable.
A GRA representative mentioned that cash flow challenges hinder some agencies from paying. The Finance Ministry's Abena Osei Asare suggested that writing off the debts could be considered if collection efforts fail.
