The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its obligations under a Settlement Agreement with Trafigura, following a petition by Trafigura's Ghana Power Generation Company (GPGC) over unpaid arrears.
GPGC warned it might seize Ghana’s properties abroad if $111 million of the $134 million judgment debt remains unpaid.
The Ministry of Finance clarified that arrangements have been made to settle the claims after several negotiations.
The debt stems from a 2021 UK tribunal ruling that found Ghana liable for terminating a power purchase agreement in 2018. The government aims to resolve the issue swiftly.
