Foreign Minister calls for more Korean manufacturing industries in Ghana

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has called for an increased presence of Korean manufacturing industries in Ghana.

This according to the minister will play a vital role in the overall economic development of Ghana.

She made this call during a visit by the Korean Foreign Affairs Minister, Kang Kyung-wha at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Read full article.a two-day official visit in Ghana for a bilateral discuss issues that has to do with the two countries to enhance and deepen relationships.

Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey said the visit is significant, since the relation between both countries have been defined by the common values of democracy, respect for human rights and freedoms, good governance, the rule of law, the pursuit of liberal market economy and promotion of international peace and security.

She commended and expressed gratitude to the Republic of Korea for their support towards Ghana’s socio-economic development.

“The republic of Korean has been very supportive of Ghana’s socio-economic development, particularly in the areas of human resource capacity-building and e-administration for ministries, department and agencies. The Korean-Exim Bank has also provided funding for important projects such as the Wa water supply, rehabilitation and expansion project; and the Prestea-Kumasi power project. Additionally, the Dawhenya Integrated Rural Development Project; the maternal Healthcare, water and sanitation projects in the Volta and Eastern Regions are projects funded under the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) grant aid.” She said

She called on the Republic of Korea to actively invest in Ghana in particular and Africa in general on a win-win basis as a way of taking advantage of this newly created Africa-wide market.

Meanwhile, the Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-Wha said the visit is to strengthen the bilateral ties in the area of politics, economic and Development Corporation as well as on regional and global issues.

She added that her country is in full support for the national vision of “Ghana Beyond Aid” which emphasizes the importance of strong ownership in the long-term socio-economic development.
