Key stakeholders at Ghana’s ports, including the Freight Forwarders Association and Customs Brokers, are protesting today, September 24, against excessive fees imposed by shipping lines.
Edward Akrong, former President of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders, revealed that the protest targets hidden charges that make it nearly $100,000 to release a 40-foot container.
Akrong criticized shipping lines for constantly introducing new fees and urged the Ministry of Transport to intervene, stating that previous engagements had failed to resolve the issue.
The protest aims to demand an end to these unfair practices.
