More Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), including GOIL and Shell, have increased petroleum product prices, with petrol now at ₵14.80 per litre and diesel at ₵14.92.
Star Oil led the increase, selling diesel at ₵14.79 and petrol at ₵13.88. The price hikes are attributed to the depreciating cedi and rising global petroleum prices.
COPEC predicted this rise, noting a 1.89% decline in the cedi's value. They projected petrol prices to reach ₵15.20 per litre and diesel ₵15.21 per litre.
COPEC urged the government to reduce LPG taxes or subsidize prices and expedite reopening the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).
