The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) reached a historic milestone, hitting a GHS 100 billion market capitalization on October 31, 2024. This record was achieved following a GHS 908 million increase in market value over the previous day.
The rise in capitalization was driven by a significant increase in trading volume, with shares surging to 202,998 from 37,276 and total value traded rising 185.5% to GHS 11.9 million.
Major contributors to this surge included top-traded equities MTNGH, GLD, and ETI. The GSE Composite Index closed at 4,385.94 points, with a YTD return of 40.12%.
