Ghana International Trade Fair moves up North for 24th edition

According to the Chief Executive Officer, of Ghana Trade Fair Company, Dr Agnes Adu says plans are far advanced in ensuring successful turnout of the event which will be anchored on the theme, ‘Value Addition: Trading Globally’.

“…taking this fair out of Accra and taking it to Tamale it also gives us the opportunity to expand our reins, basically to make sure that we’re incorporating all sectors across the length and breadth of this country...We’re just at the beginning of planning how to get you to Tamale. We have a lot of information that we’ll be giving out...” she said.

While addressing the media at the launch of the event, Wednesday, January 22, 2020, Dr Adu indicated that the theme for the programme resonates with the Akufo-Addo led administration’s industrialization policies.

“As you know, this government’s flagship policy that it came into government with is to industrialise Ghana, add value to what we produce and consume what we produce ‘Made in Ghana’, expose what we produce the value-added products and services to international, local, regional partners. This will help us to reduce our dependence on foreign goods…our key role is to make sure this policy takes root.”

The Head of Exhibition and Marketing, Asamoah Baffour in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb revealed that over 600 exhibitors, both from Ghana and abroad are expected to participate in the event.

“This year we are expecting over 600 exhibitors both local and foreign, that is our expectation…,” he said.

The week-long event will be held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium from February 27 through to March 8, 2020. It is in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Association of Ghana Industries, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce.
