The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) has launched an Over-The-Counter (OTC) Market targeting rural banks and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
This initiative aims to expand financial inclusion by creating a platform for trading unlisted securities.
GSE Managing Director Abena Amoah emphasized that the OTC Market will support capital market growth, urging small businesses to use it for affordable funding. The platform, part of a broader Securities and Exchange Commission master plan, will enable rural and community banks to trade shares and strengthen their operations.
ARB Apex Bank CEO Alex Kwasi Awuah praised the initiative for helping rural banks raise patient capital.
