Ghana aims to secure $1.7 billion from the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIM) by year-end to support SMEs and infrastructure projects.
Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Abena Osei Asare, disclosed this during AFREXIM's Annual Meetings in the Bahamas.
The funding will help address SME challenges, with the President set to launch the SME Growth and Opportunity Fund next month. Some funds will also finance infrastructure.
AFREXIM has been pivotal in supporting Ghana's economy, previously providing $750 million in 2022 to stabilize the economy amid debt restructuring. Ghana, a founding member, holds 2.41% of AFREXIM shares.
