Govt & Tullow sign landmark emissions reduction purchase agreement

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission have signed an Emissions Reductions Purchase Agreement (ERPA) with Tullow to combat deforestation and promote sustainable forest management in Ghana.

This landmark agreement aims to conserve forests, generate revenue for local communities, and support Ghana's climate change mitigation efforts.

Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor praised the deal as a significant step in addressing climate change.

Tullow's Julia Ross highlighted their investment in zero carbon emissions initiatives, while British High Commissioner Harriet Thompson commended Ghana's dedication.

The decade-long agreement positions the Forestry Commission as a key source of high-integrity carbon credits.
