Govt committed to recapitalising BoG – Abradu-Otoo

Dr. Philip Abradu-Otoo, Director of Research at the Bank of Ghana, has confirmed the government's commitment to recapitalizing the central bank.

He expressed confidence that this will significantly improve the bank's financial standing.

Discussions are underway with the Ministry of Finance and IMF to determine the form of recapitalization, whether cash or a combination of cash and bonds.

An MoU is expected to be signed by the end of Q3 to restore the bank's financial health and drive its positive equity position after significant losses in 2022 and 2023.
