‘I don’t know where they got their data from’ – Agric Minister questions Statistical Service food price report

Food and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong has questioned the accuracy of recent data on food prices and inflation released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

Speaking on PM Express on Joy News, he claimed his Ministry's tracking of prices tells a different story.

Acheampong noted that while maize prices have increased due to a dry spell, prices for key food items like plantain, tomatoes, onions, and cassava have dropped significantly.

He argued that GSS's year-on-year comparisons don’t reflect the recent downward trends, emphasizing that most food prices have been declining since January 2024.
