IMF on Ghana: We’re working to get third tranche approved by end of this month

Ghana is expected to receive the third tranche of $360 million from the IMF by the end of June, as the country grapples with a weakening cedi against the strong US dollar.

Julie Kozack, the IMF’s Director of Communication, announced this, noting that this would bring total disbursements to $1.6 billion since May 2023.

The IMF highlighted Ghana’s economic stabilization and progress in debt restructuring, including the completion of the domestic debt exchange and ongoing negotiations with external creditors.

However, Ghana's total public debt has surged to GHS658.6 billion, emphasizing the need for continued reforms to restore economic stability.
