IPPs Chamber rejects Finance Minister’s haircut claim

Dr. Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor, CEO of Ghana's Chamber of Independent Power Generators (IPPs), has refuted Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam’s claim of a debt restructuring agreement with IPPs.

Apetorgbor clarified that no such agreement has been reached since April 2024, dismissing the Minister’s statements as misleading and inaccurate. He emphasized the need for transparent communication and honest engagement from the government.

While some IPPs like CenPower and Amandi reportedly accepted restructuring proposals, others including Karpowership and Twin City Energy rejected them.

The Finance Minister had announced a plan involving debt reduction and extended payment terms after six years of negotiations.
