The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) highlighted challenges in Ghana's Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply, citing inadequate storage tanks as a major issue.
NPA’s Abass Tasunti explained that while reserves exist, they aren’t always enough to meet demand, causing supply delays. Unlike petrol and diesel, LPG storage capacity is limited to 2-3 weeks.
The NPA is addressing this with a Tender Program to ensure continuous supply and private companies are investing in new storage terminals.
Local LPG production at Atuabo has resumed after recent disruptions and further investment is needed to enhance storage and ensure energy security.
