Inflation burden, low economic growth pushing more Ghanaians into poverty – WB

The World Bank's Acting Country Manager, Mrs. Eunice Ackwerh, has highlighted the adverse effects of inflation and low growth on vulnerable Ghanaians, pushing approximately 36% of the population into poverty.

Over a quarter of Ghanaians live on less than $2.15 per day, underscoring the need for policies to alleviate severe poverty.

Speaking at an event for International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in Accra, she emphasized the importance of protecting the most vulnerable while pursuing economic growth.

World Bank officials discussed various projects aimed at job creation and poverty reduction in Ghana, noting the impact of the pandemic on development.
