Intra Africa trade key to Ghana’s economic recovery – Finance Minister

Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam emphasized the importance of intra-African trade for Ghana’s economic recovery during a meeting with African finance ministers and World Bank President Ajay Banga in Washington D.C. on October 23.

He highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as key to driving regional economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction.

Dr. Adam urged the IMF and World Bank to support initiatives like regional payment systems to enhance intra-African trade. He also discussed Ghana's energy reforms and climate strategies and advocated for greater African influence in global financial systems.
