Investors will pull out if we don’t fix galamsey – Chamber of Mines CEO warns

Ghana Chamber of Mines CEO, Sulemanu Koney, emphasized that solving the illegal mining (galamsey) issue requires strong political will, effective regulation, and collaboration.

Speaking on PM Express, he advocated segmenting the mining sector to address challenges faced by small-scale and large-scale miners.

Koney called for providing technical support, training, and resources for small-scale miners to ensure compliance with regulations. He stressed the need for sustained effort from the government, traditional authorities, and business leaders.

Koney also warned that Galamsey's environmental impact could deter international investors unless stricter measures are enforced.
