The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Marketers Association of Ghana warns of a potential gas shortage next week due to low LPG reserves and challenges with new import rules from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
Vice President Gabriel Kumi stated the current stock of 10,000 metric tons will deplete by the end of the week if no new shipments arrive.
The Atuabo Gas Plant, supplying 45-50% of national needs, has been underperforming, forcing reliance on imports. Recent shortages have already affected 60-70% of marketers, prompting calls for the NPA to expedite supplies from Bulk Oil Distributors.
