Locally-built EVs launch new mobile storefront for African telcos

Itemate Solutions to provide African telecommunications companies with a mobile storefront solution.

MellowVans’ electric three-wheel vehicles, known for their low maintenance, cost efficiency, and rugged design suited to African roads, are now equipped with a point-of-sale platform by Itemate, allowing telco agents to offer customer service, register SIM cards, and sell airtime on the go.

This initiative follows a successful pilot with Telkom and offers telcos a sustainable, cost-effective way to comply with stricter customer registration regulations across Africa while extending reach to underserved areas. Talks are underway with telcos in other African nations to expand this model.
