Mobile money transactions increased by 41.55% to GH¢779.1bn in 4 months of 2024

Mobile money transactions in Ghana has reached GH¢779.1 billion in the first four months of 2024, marking a 41.55% year-on-year growth from GH¢330.9 billion in the same period in 2023.

Despite the Electronic Transactions Levy, transactions showed significant increases, with monthly values fluctuating: GH¢198.4 billion in January, GH¢195.8 billion in February, GH¢181.9 billion in March, and GH¢203.0 billion in April.

The total number of transactions also varied, peaking at 631 million in March. Active mobile money accounts grew steadily, reaching 23.9 million by April 2024. In 2023, total mobile money transactions were GH¢1.912 trillion, up from GH¢1.07 trillion in 2022.
