Board Chairman of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Peter Mac Manu, has denied allegations that his children are the biggest suppliers to the Authority.
At a press conference Tuesday morning, Mr Mac Manu disclosed that his children are working in the bank, Ecobank and Stanbic Bank and not GPHA as the union workers have alleged.
According to him, one

“I don’t think they have come for any contract, that they are the biggest suppliers to the Authority.”
Workers of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) in the Western region have accused their board chairman, Mr. Peter Mac Manu, of conflict of interest by giving contracts to his wife and children.
The Senior Staff Association of GPHA, John Aseeph, in at a press conference in Takoradi alleged that the children of the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman are the biggest suppliers to the Authority.
This, Mr Mac Manu said “none of my children are suppliers to the Authority and this can be verified from the Procurement Department and the Entity Tender Committee of GPHA.”
“I have four (4) children, two work at the Bank, one is a student and one owns a borehole drilling company. I challenge the Union to name any company that deals or has a contract with GPHA that belongs to any of my children. I challenge them on this,” he explained.
“If the Union think they can still spew lies to damage me and by extension to GPHA and government that we are corrupt as many people are saying on their Facebook wall, then I am sorry that we have a long way to go as a country. We will not allow falsehood to run over truths and that is why I am setting this record, and from here the lawyers will follow.”
Mr Mac Manu stated that the press conference held at Takoradi in which the allegations were made “was a direct personal attack” on him as he suspects some people have a personal score to settle with him “to accuse me falsely and paint the NPP government as corrupt”.
