Authorities in France and the Netherlands have raided Netflix's offices in Paris and Amsterdam in a joint tax fraud investigation led by France’s National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF).
The investigation, which started in November 2022, is examining allegations of serious tax fraud and undeclared work by Netflix.
Authorities are focusing on the company’s tax filings for 2019-2021 and are investigating whether Netflix minimized its French tax liabilities by attributing French revenue to its Dutch headquarters until 2021.
Following a change in tax reporting, Netflix’s declared French turnover surged from €47.1 million in 2020 to €1.2 billion in 2021.
Netflix, with around 10 million French subscribers, has stated its commitment to complying with local tax laws but has not commented on the raids.
