A Deloitte Ghana survey revealed that 45% of stakeholders in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector cite political interference and poor transparency as major obstacles to oil exploration.
Conducted for the Petroleum Commission, the report highlights a decline in exploration since 2018.
However, 73% of respondents view deepwater basins as promising for future exploration.
Joint ventures between the government, international oil companies, and local firms were suggested as a solution.
The survey also indicated that 40% of respondents believe local and regional collaboration can enhance oil financing, with 38% supporting tax exemptions for independent companies.
