Tourism Development Fund is not bottomless – Minister

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has said Ghana is equipped with enough funds and expertise to support the development of domestic tourism to rake in more revenue.

“Ghana has enough for us to start promoting domestic tourism. The tourism fund has been set up solely to develop and promote the sector sustainably with the active collaboration of all stakeholders, we pledge to ensure that it does just that”, she said in her address.

According to madam Ofosu-Adjare, the concept of the ‘Ghana Cities Guide’--which contains information to guide tourists in and around Ghana, fits into the plans of her Ministry which is to improve upon the state of the country’s existing attractions by making them more accessible to both local residents, tourists and other investors.

“I urge all Ghanaians to have the desire to learn about their own country as the ‘Ghana Cities Guide’ will produce a compact and handy pack containing print information, video and a map of tourist attraction in various Regions/Districts of Ghana”.

The Minister however mentioned that she was optimistic copies of the Guide will be made available at exhibitions centres, offices of travel and tour agents, embassies and other corporate offices.

The tourism minister entreated industry players especially airline operators, international hotel chains and restaurants to take advantage of Ghana’s immense potential to reach unimaginable multitude of people spread all over the world whilst they advertise their products and services.
