Ghana’s tourism sector saw a significant rise in international arrivals, reaching 1.15 million in 2023, up from 1.13 million in 2019, according to the Ghana Tourism Authority's 2023 report.
This growth follows a sharp decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw arrivals drop dramatically in 2020 and 2021. Quarterly figures show recovery starting in 2021, with significant increases in 2022 and 2023.
For instance, third-quarter arrivals jumped from 32,602 in 2020 to 306,365 in 2023, marking a 19% increase from 2022. The consistent rise in arrivals highlights the sector’s strong recovery and growth trajectory post-pandemic.
