Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim, has emphasized the importance of data-driven policymaking to ensure effective interventions.

Speaking at the 2024 Africa Statistics Day, he stressed that decisions not backed by granular, sector-specific data risk falling short of intended outcomes.

Prof. Annim highlighted the need for historical data to inform post-2030 educational strategies, urging reliance on tailored statistics for policy formulation.

He also called for collaboration between public and private institutions to develop a robust national data bank, noting the wealth of data held by private entities and the Ghana Statistical Service's readiness to integrate them for better-informed policies.

The 2024 African Statistics Day, themed "Supporting Education by Modernizing the Production of Fit-for-Purpose Statistics," aimed to raise awareness of the role of statistics in socioeconomic progress.
