We are engaging Société Générale to ensure clarity – BoG

The Bank of Ghana says it has not received any formal notice from Société Générale Ghana regarding the bank's rumoured exit from the Ghanaian market.

Société Générale dismissed these rumurs as baseless earlier this month. The Central Bank is in discussions with Société Générale's Group Head Office to ensure clarity.

At the 118th Monetary Policy Committee briefing, Governor Dr. Ernest Addison emphasised the need for transparency from Société Générale. He mentioned ongoing discussions with their office in Côte d'Ivoire and expressed concerns about potential surprises.

Société Générale Ghana confirmed a strategic review of its operations and promised to communicate any concrete developments appropriately.
