The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has unveiled a commemorative GHc 5 bank note to celebrate the financial sector regulator’s 60th anniversary, an anniversary which coincides with Ghana’s 60 years of independence.
The note, which which becomes a legal tender tommorrow 4th March, 2107, comes with a new exciting shine when tilted.

The new five cedi note, compared to the existing one, is smaller in size for easy handling, according to BOG officials. It also contains a host of modern security and informational features.
The new bank note displays an engraved portrait of Dr. James Kwegyir Aggrey, the famous educationist, missionary and teacher.

When the note is tilted, the Black Star motif makes an up and down pulsing motion while the white figure 5 on the ribbon stays still.
Watermark
The portrait of Dr. Aggrey is visible from both sides when the banknote is viewed towards light. Under this portrait is a watermarke highlight of the figure 5.
