Ashanti Region: Man jailed 12 months over water meter theft, another on the run

A 23-year-old man, Sumaila Abdul Rahman, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison by the Mampong Magistrate Court for stealing water meters and other materials in Asante Mampong.

He was arrested on October 11, 2024, and found with five water meters and seven copper taps.

In a related case, Priscilla Amofa was arrested for illegally reconnecting her water service in Kumasi.

Authorities are intensifying efforts to combat water theft and illegal connections.

The Ghana Water Company Limited is urging residents to report suspicious activities to protect essential water services in the Ashanti region.
