Court orders NAM1 to open defence as it dismisses ‘no case’ application

An Accra High Court has dismissed a submission of no case filed by Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1), CEO of the defunct gold dealership firm Menzgold.

Presiding over the case, Justice Ernest Owusu-Dapaah ruled that NAM1 and his companies, Brew Marketing Consult and Menzgold, must open their defense against 39 charges, including selling gold without a license, operating an unlicensed deposit-taking business, and money laundering involving over GH₵340 million.

The court found sufficient evidence that NAM1 and Menzgold sold gold without proper licensing and conducted unauthorized deposit-taking activities. The prosecution had called nine witnesses before closing its case.
