A 22-year-old carpenter, Seidu Abdul-Aziz, was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing a sheep in Sawla, Savannah Region.

After pleading guilty and admitting to the crime, Abdul-Aziz explained he resorted to theft due to being an orphan.

The court fined him GH¢1,000.00 and handed him a six-month sentence.

However, he escaped the courtroom with police handcuffs still on.

His freedom was short-lived, as police and local youth quickly recaptured him just a few meters from the courthouse.
