On August 6, 2024, violence erupted in Zogbei, Mion district, due to a long-standing land dispute between the Dagombas and Konkombas, resulting in four deaths and several motorbikes being torched.
The conflict, which has severely disrupted transportation between Tamale and Yendi, has led to heightened security in the area.
Despite the deployment of security personnel, the situation remains tense.
Mion's District Chief Executive, Alhassan Abubakari, confirmed that while calm has been restored, the violence earlier in the day made travel extremely difficult.
