Gospel musician fingered in GH¢900k robbery, murder of cop at Bogoso

A gospel musician has been fingered in the murder of Lance Corporal Nicholas Duku and robbery of GH¢900,000 belonging to an Indian Businessman at Bogoso in the Western Region

Frederick Mensah alias Kobby Nana 1 who is among four persons so far arrested in connection with the incident, confessed to investigators that, the musician Kwaku Mintah, David, Mohamed Dauda alias Ahmed, and himself met 5 suspects from Accra led by Nat at a hotel at Bogoso to plan the robbery.

According to him, he and Mohamed Dauda were tasked to use Mazda Tribune 4×4 belonging to Mohamed Dauda to wait outside Bogoso to pick the Accra accomplices after the robbery.

The Accra suspects brought in a Nissan Rogue which was used for the robbery and later abandoned.

Suspect David and Kwaku Mintah used Kwaku Mintah’s Toyota Corolla to secure the robbery scene for monitoring. Kwaku Mintah and David live in Tarkwa and are yet to be arrested.

Suspect Mohamed Dauda corroborated the story of Kobby but added that GH¢420 000 and not GH¢900,000 was robbed and that they shared it.

According to him, they were 10 including one Mugabe who was brought in from Tarkwa by Kobby and that each of them received GH¢ 45 000 of the robbed cash, revealing that the amount robbed could be more than what was stated and highly suspected Kobby to have stolen an unspecified amount.

He disclosed during interrogation that his share of the booty is with David.

Suspect Bismark Opoku 34 alias Opambuor who is a friend to Kobby said after the robbery, the money was hidden in a bush near Huni Valley prior to their sharing it.

He revealed that he was called by Kobby to meet Mohamed Dauda at the location to carry the money to the roadside which was transported in the Toyota Corolla of Kwaku Mintah the musician. The Toyota Corolla carried Kwaku Mintah, David, Mohamed Dauda and Kobby with the money while the robbers from Accra used the Mazda Tribune to follow.

Later, Kobby left the Corolla and joined a Taxi with him and suspect Charles Kwesi alias Yaw Laryee. Suspect Yaw Laryee, 30 and a friend to Opambuor joined him to meet Dauda to carry the robbed money to the roadside and after his arrest took investigators to the scene where the money was hidden for reconstruction.

Meanwhile, the police have mounted a search of 8 other suspects said to be on the run including Kwaku Mintah the gospel musician.
