Highway robbers kill driver, wound others at Agona Suromanya

A container cargo truck driver was killed and several others wounded in a highway robbery at Agona Suromanya in the Central Region.

The armed robbers, who blocked the highway around 8:00 PM, attacked over 15 vehicles, stealing more than GH₵100,000 and mobile phones.

The robbery, lasting over an hour, ended when local residents confronted the robbers with makeshift weapons, forcing them to flee.

The police response was criticized as residents claimed it took over three hours for them to arrive, potentially contributing to the driver’s death.
