‘Houseboy’ jailed for defiling his employer’s daughter

A Gender-Based Violence Court has sentenced Augustine Owusu, a 28-year-old domestic servant, to seven years in prison for defiling his employer's 12-year-old daughter.

Owusu, who pleaded guilty to the charge, was convicted by the court presided over by Dora Inkumsah Eshun.

The incident occurred between June and November 2023 in Accra, where Owusu was employed to care for the victim’s grandfather and resided in the same house.

Suspicious behavior led the victim’s mother to monitor Owusu, resulting in his arrest after he was seen with the victim. It was revealed that Owusu had sexual relations with the girl on two occasions.
