The trial of Constable Smith Gyekyi, accused of murdering Stanley Ahadzi over a transport fare dispute, is ongoing.

Prosecutors revealed that the police have conducted a forensic examination of Gyekyi's firearm and are awaiting the report.

The case was adjourned to October 10, 2024, by Judge Ama Adomako Kwakye, who has yet to hear Gyekyi's plea.

On August 18, at around 4:00 AM, police responded to reports of a shooting at Koans Estate, where they found Ahadzi dead from a gunshot wound.

Witness Esther Owusua had called Ahadzi for help after getting lost during the ride.

An argument erupted between Gyekyi and Ahadzi over the fare, leading Gyekyi to fire a warning shot before fatally shooting Ahadzi.

Gyekyi later turned himself in to the Amasaman Divisional Police and allegedly confessed to the crime during investigations.
