The Wa Circuit Court has sentenced a 25-year-old vulcanizer to 20 years imprisonment for robbery and causing unlawful harm.
The convict, Salifu Issaka, was arrested on July 28, 2019 after he tried escaping when owner of a house he intended robbing chased him.
A statement signed by the Upper West Police Public Affairs Officer noted upon being caught by owner of the house, Issaka physically attacked him inflicting machete wounds and cutting his thumbs.
He was later subdued and handed over to the police, and offensive weapons were found in his possession after the police conducted a search on him.
Salifu Issaka was subsequently arraigned before the Wa Circuit Court on Thursday, October 10, when he was tried, found guilty by sitting judge Justice Baah Forson and sentenced to 20 years in prison with hard labour.
