Man jailed 5 years for sodomy

A Tarkwa Circuit court has sentenced a twenty-year-old illegal miner to 5 years imprisonment with hard labour for having anal sex with a 20-year-old imbecile.

Emmanuel Harris pleaded guilty and asked the court presided over by Emmanuel Bart-Plange, for mitigation as a first time offender.

Emmanuel had earlier admitted to having unnatural carnal knowledge with the victim, who attends school at Akoon.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman, said in November last year, at about 1900 hours, the convict saw the victim and a ten-year-old boy from his school assaulting themselves indecently at the school premises.

She said the convict drove the ten-year-old boy away and had anal sex with the victim at the same spot.

According to the prosecution, from that day, Emmanuel chose the victim as his sex partner and repeated the act at places such as Nkrumah steps, Ackah junction, his room at Akoon and other places.

On January 25, 2018, the victim disclosed what was transpiring between him and the convict to a witness in the case.

The victim led the witness to Emmanuel's house and identified him as the one who had been having anal sex with him.

The prosecution said when the witness confronted the convict on the matter he admitted the crime and pleaded with the witness not to reveal it to anyone.

She said with the assistance of the Assembly Member of the area, the witness reported the matter to the police whereby the convict was arrested. GNA
