Man jailed for defrauding woman in fake money-doubling scheme in Yendi

A Yendi Circuit Court has sentenced 28-year-old Alhassan Sayibu to five years in prison for defrauding a woman of GH₵5,000 and sexually assaulting her in a money-doubling scam.

Sayibu, a motor fitter, convinced hairdresser Tabal-Tuo Vida to send him GH₵2,000 for “herbs” to double her money, then coerced her into sexual acts as part of the “ritual.”

After handing her a parcel, he advised her to wait before opening it; inside, she found only lotto papers.

Vida reported him to the police, leading to his arrest.
