In Tarkwa Nsuaem, Western Region, thugs posing as Forestry Commission personnel shot and killed a man in his mid-forties during a joint operation with the commission.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Benjamin Kessie, confirmed the incident and revealed that the Forestry Commission had allowed a mining company, Capsor, to bring in private security personnel, who have since been accused of random shootings to intimidate locals.
This led to the death of one man and serious injury to another three months ago.
Kessie condemned the actions, calling the security personnel "gun-wielding thugs," and urged authorities to take immediate action.
There are also claims that the thugs may be targeting the constituency for political reasons.
