Chop bar operators were frustrated after wildlife officers seized bush meat during a joint operation in the Greater Accra and Central Regions.

The operation, conducted from October 22 to 25, targeted illegal poachers selling porcupines, royal antelopes, and bongowere, with meat confiscated from markets and fridges in Accra, Winneba, and Assin Fosu.

The Wildlife Division's Public Relations Officer, Ms. Ernestina Adumea Anie, reported that some poachers resisted arrest. While some traders were educated on the closed-season regulations, the operation will expand to other regions to enforce compliance.

The closed season, from August 1 to December 1, prohibits hunting and selling wildlife without a license.
