Former Deputy Information Minister under the Mahama led administration, Felix Kwakye Ofosu says the government’s supposed fight against galamsey was a move to enrich members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Akufo-Addo Government since its inception vowed to end the menace of galamsey which has destroyed several water bodies in the country.

The President in one of his speeches said he was willing to sacrifice his next bid for Presidency in the fight against galamsey as major water bodies were being polluted.

However, current events and revelations suggest that although the government was able to stop other businesses from engaging in galamsey but rather paved way for some members of the ruling party to make more money from the venture.

Reacting to this, Felix who is shocked by government’s failure in their bid to end galamsey said in a tweet that “What was announced as a fight against Galamsey was, in fact, a governmental and party conspiracy to enrich NPP financiers with devastating consequences for our environment and water bodies.

He noted that a government that engages in such deceit and total disregard for the citizenry “deserves to be booted out at the earliest opportunity”.
