Japan-based Ghanaian businessman and music producer, Opoku Oppong Kwabena, known as Kobe, sees the establishment of Grammy Africa as a major opportunity for Ghanaian musicians to win the prestigious award.
In an interview with GhanaWeekend, he argued that an African version of the Grammys would allow more submissions from Ghanaian artists, tailored to the African music scene.
Kobe disagrees with the view that an African-exclusive Grammy would diminish its prestige, highlighting the business and industry benefits.
He believes the rise of Afrobeats has attracted the Grammys' interest, which will open doors for African musicians and industries.
