Ms Charlene Agyinasare – a lawyer and daughter of the founder and co-founder of Perez Chapel International, Bishop Charles Agyinasare and Rev. Mrs Vivian Agyinasare, respectively – and her fiancé Elvis Ampah, on Thursday, 29 August 2019 got married in a colourful traditional wedding ceremony.
“Yesterday, my wife Mrs Vivian Agyinasare and I gave our daughter Charlene Agyinasare to Elvis Ampah in a traditional marriage ceremony”, Bishop Agyinasare wrote on his Facebook page.
The couple will have their white wedding tomorrow, Saturday, 31 August 2019 at Perez Chapel International, Dzorwulu, Accra.
Attached to that post was a devotional message by Bishop Agyinasare titled: ‘Turn That Marriage Around’ as reproduced in full below:
Genesis 2:18 And the Lord God said: ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him’.
In 2005, the Guinness Book of World Records said that Percy and Florence Arrowsmith held the record for the longest marriage of a living couple (80 years). Both Mr and Mrs Arrowsmith have since died, but they left good advice for those who want to have a lasting marriage. Florence said, “You must never go to sleep as bad friends. If you’ve had a quarrel, you make it up. Never be afraid to say, ‘sorry’.”
Percy had a slightly more humorous piece of advice. He said the secret to his long marriage was just two words, “Yes, dear.” Clearly, Mr and Mrs Arrowsmith worked their marriage out by conscious effort, and so must we. But the first key in turning bad marriages around is knowing when a marriage has become or is becoming bad.
Here are 3 signs of bad marriage:
1. A bad marriage is one that doesn’t bring joy. A marriage in which joy is absent is a bad marriage. And there is a need for such to be addressed as soon as possible.
2. A marriage without fulfilment. Marriage is a godly institution tailored to yield fulfilment. One without fulfilment is a sign of a bad marriage.
3. Marriage with constant quarrels. A marriage in which quarrels persist is a sign of bad marriage.
Precious one, if you are experiencing a bad marriage, remember the advice of Mr and Mrs Arrowsmith: let loving friendship and selflessness be the foundation on which you build or continue your marriage.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me turn my marriage around into a good marriage, in Jesus’ name.
